Marie Antoinette from Humble Quilts

I have been intrigued with this French General panel of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, since I've seen it.
I finally just purchased it.

I have no plan at this time, it was just charming and quirky and I had to have it!!

President's Day USA from Humble Quilts

Today is Monday and President's Day.

I love history and although history isn't always pleasant I hope we continue to learn from it!

I think I have a few of these George Washington "panels". they measure about 4"x8". Let me know if you are interested. I made the above wall hanging for the Humble Quilts panel challenge which I thought was a lot of fun. Send me an email if you may be interested in GW. More Retreat Sewing from Humble Quilts

My main project was to get the final 2 borders of my cousins walk bird sampler done!

One border, whew!

2 borders! Yay! I  need to attach them and get the corner applique complete. I'm so close! This son of a gun is HUGE! 102"x116" or something like that! No more giant quilts for me (for awhile)

In between I had some easy houses cut and ready to sew.

I worked on a liberated flying geese border for the basket

As I was making them I wasn't feeling the love at all. We tried a few different ...

Mahvelous Monday! from Humble Quilts

And here we are again on another Monday! I've got a little of this and that to share this morning.

An oldie but good in my possession! Not sure what I'll do with it yet.

And these! Sold on Etsy this weekend. I remember these prints well! I wonder if we will ever get these style of prints designed again  since the Civil War seems to be controversial these days.
Thank you to all who made purchases from my Etsy store! I appreciate you all very much!

Bohemia flour sack. My friend Laurie uses them for backing and ...

Fickle Friday from Humble Quilts

I was the lucky recipient of a few of these lovely panels!

I've been keeping my eyes open for the Southern Generals for about 1 year for someone who asked me about them. Yay! I finally found her one. Her husband is a Civil War buff and she wanted both (north and south generals) panels.
I offered these on the facebook group before adding them to the Etsy store. I'm happy to say they all found a home!

I'm not sure if I shared this on my blog, but I found some of this at a quilt ...

Historic Panel Challenge Finale! Link up! from Humble Quilts

Welcome 2023!

This is not a great photo. I was slipping around in the mud trying to keep the quilt from getting dirty!
I started with the Bill Cody panel and added quarter square triangles that my friend Linda has given me. I machine quilted on the diagonal. Even though I say it is complete I want to add a few hand quilting stitches in the panel itself.
This star print came on the panel and I used it around my label.

I'm sharing this photo so you can up close the backing and binding fabric.

You can see ...

Whatnot Wednesday from Humble Quilts

After returning from our mission trip to DR on December 7th I feel like I've started the Christmas holiday behind a little bit.
I've been doing a little of this and a little of that.

Putting up simple decor.

Attending a holiday party with this adorable snoozer!

Made a trip to the local cemetery to see Wreaths Across America on my dad and father-in- laws graveside. Have you heard of this?  I think this was only the 2nd year they have done it locally.

With one week to spare Cory put up a few house lights,

And put ...

Welcome Quiltalong from Humble Quilts

I've only heard from about 4 people that are working on this. So many of you bought the pattern or had the booklet. Let me know if you are still piecing the top with me! (Some are speedy and already have the top completed, I get it!)

We will finish the letters this time.

Using your 2.5" squares, hst, and 4 patches these can easily be completed.

LOL, I think there was a reason this 4 patch was in the orphan block drawer!

3 more blocks after this and the border! I'm going to get creative and ...

Ebay Find- Panel Flag Quilt from Humble Quilts

This is amazing! My friend Laurie sent me the link to this ebay quilt that really belongs in a museum. Starting price was $1500, no bids

The description:

Now here is something special,  a hand stitched and signed American flag quilt
made in 1880 by a Mrs Mary A. Van Antwerp (which a genealogical search suggest
resided in Great Bend, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania) from flags acquired at the 1876
Philadelphia Centennial Exposition (see the ink inscription ) Measuring
appx 80" x 67", there's scattered moisture staining throughout and two small tears
at the top in the panel showing the main building ...

Friday Update from Humble Quilts

First off I want to apologize for asking you all to come to the Panel Pinterest board and then not approving you! I didn't think I had it set up correctly, but for those of you that requested, you are approved! Feel free to add any panels or panel quilts that you'd like to share with us. Not all of the ones I've saved there are considered panels, but hopefully they will inspire you!

You can find it HERE and collaborate if you'd like.

FunDay MonDay from Humble Quilts

Good morning and happy August!

Hmm, wonder what is going on in my sewing room?

Baskets! Cheddar background and fun printed baskets. The handles will come soon. I thought I'd make these a bit smaller and I have a surprise setting for them. Because I am offering these for a class having a few different colors combos and settings is good to get quilters thinking outside the box.

And I'm still adding quarter square triangles to my center panel for the challenge.
Saturday Elsa and I went to a mountain lake to hike and beat the heat!

This Week in the Sewing Room from Humble Quilts

I saw another little Geo Wa centered quilt  and am using some ideas from that for mine. I do like the way it is coming along. If you are new here this is for a historic quilt panel challenge. Read about it HERE.  The only panels I have left are of George Washington and they are approx 5"x8". With a little quilt you don't invest a mountain of time and fabric. Email me at Humbleqults@gmail.com if you are interested in a GW panel.

I like to add sleeves to my quilts in the same fabric as ...

Panel Challenge from Humble Quilts

Here's the start of my smaller Geo Washington panel.

I started with this idea, which I like but I should ahve done my math first!

I have to unpick and make some adjustments! It will be worth it.

I wanted to share a few final photos of our trip to Wyoming.
We went to a lovely state park near our property for the last few days.

The Popo Agie River. It was rushing pretty good and lulled us to sleep at night.
Elsa liked the green shade better than the open desert.

Welcome July!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Uptown Girl ♫♫ And More from Humble Quilts

Here are my Uptown blocks for this month! Thank you Gay for doing such an amazing job with your blocks of the month! After I made my block I saw one online and I was missing the lower flower bud! I have no idea how I missed that!

That's better!

I have a few more panels left if you are still looking. The battle scene and the blue generals are cut too close to the top so I am making a good deal on those two panels. (blue Generals is sold) Email me at humblequilts@gmail.com if you ...

Oldie but Goodie Historic Quilt Panel from Humble Quilts

Look at this gorgeous historic quilt panel i found recently! I used a red one in the past and do not even know if I have seen this blue one in person. Such a rich color.

Here is the entire panel. It measures approx 17"x21"

After May when our antique block challenge is over, I am considering doing a challenge with a historic panel. There are many of them that have been printed over the years. It doesn't have to be this one. (although I think I'll have more) I'm posting to see if there would ...
